American weight scale

Lately I bought an electronic weight scale that permanently reduce the real weight if you measure in kg. Though when you switch to lb then everything is fine. For example my wife has weight of 63 kg (139 lb), but it says she weights only 60 kg. The pound weight is correct - 139. I guess these cheap chinese guys who designed the piece didn’t build-in a proper conversion. However it’s not that bad, is it? 
Now you can safely eat cookies and muffins, without feeling sad about your weight.
Same thing with an electronic thermometer. it shows correct temperature in F, but when you switch to C then the normal body temperature is suddenly 35.9. Oh, well…
